Celebrating Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month

Bristol Hospice is proud to support Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month. According to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF), an estimated seven to 10 million people worldwide live with Parkinson’s disease, one of the most common disorders of the nervous system. PDF has launched this year’s campaign #EndParkinsons. Click to learn more.

Parkinsons Disease

As an individual’s journey with Parkinson’s disease progresses, palliative care and hospice care can be added to provide comfort while being cared for at home or in a home-like setting. Although some think of hospice services for terminal cancer patients, anyone with limited life expectancy may qualify. Hospice support prioritizes care in comfort rather than aggressive treatment, stressing quality of life instead of quantity.
