Bristol Hospice: ‘Run like Nasa, with the Heart of the Lord’

It is incredibly fulfilling to do the work that we have the honor to do, day in, and day out. To receive such notes like this from a patient’s family, reminds us just how important it is to keep on doing our very best, in every day.

What a compliment: “You run like NASA with the heart of the Lord”.

Our mission – after all – is ‘that all patients and families entrusted to our care will be treated with the highest level of compassion, respect, and quality of care.’

Happy CNA Day!

Happy CNA Day! Today is set aside to recognize the career nursing assistants who dedicate their lives to the well-being of others. It also marks the beginning of the 42nd Annual “National Nursing Assistant” week, June 13th -20th. Nursing assistants are such an important part of patient care and we at Bristol Hospice cannot be more thankful for our CNA and Home Health Aide workers. If you see a CNA in the field today, make sure to take a moment and say – THANK YOU!

Spreading Joy and Smiles!

The Bristol Hospice ~ Hawaii team was pleased to participate in Avalon Care Centers’ Carnival, in an effort to bring joy and laughter to the care center’s residents. We were happy to provide some of the games and prizes. Most importantly, our team was able to spend time with some of the Bristol Hospice patients and families, and connect with Avalon Care Center staff.  Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of this fun-filled day for all!

Check out some of the photos from the Carnival below!

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRISTOL HOSPICE TEAM MEMBER!

After six long years, and at the age of 34, Charles Njenga, Bristol Hospice HHA, is a U.S. citizen! He passed the U.S. Citizenship Exam earlier this month with flying colors.

Charles, raised by a single mother with five brothers and sisters in a small village in Kenya, came to the U.S. to make a better life and provide for his family. After moving to the U.S., he immediately enrolled in a program to become a CNA/HHA and landed his first job at a skilled nursing facility. Charles joined the Bristol Hospice team in May 2014 and started down the path to becoming a U.S. citizen.

Charles said working for Bristol Hospice helped him study for the exam. He listened to the U.S. Citizenship lectures on his CD player while driving patient-to-patient. When asked “what is next?” his face lit up as he stated with a beaming smile, “I want to have my mom come and visit. I really miss her.”

Bristol Hospice ~ Sacramento congratulates Charles on the hard work and dedication given to obtaining his U.S. citizenship. We are proud to have you part of the team!

Charles Njenga
