Effective October 1, 2015 – Bristol Homecare – Oregon, LLC is now part of Advanced Home Health Northwest

In a further step to solidify our vision of being graciously committed to becoming the provider of choice for hospice, palliative care and supportive care, we are pleased to announce that Bristol Homecare – Oregon, LLC has entered into an agreement with Advanced Home Health Northwest [“Advanced”] a division of Prestige Health Care, for its purchase. The sale was effective October 1, 2015.  It is important to note that the sale does not impact Bristol Hospice – Oregon, LLC, and we will continue to provide hospice and palliative care services to the community.

Proven Hospice and Palliative Care Physician Executive is Tapped to Carry on the Bristol Hospice Mission

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, Sept. 17, 2015Bristol Hospice, L.L.C., a premier provider of family-centered hospice services, announces the appointment of industry veteran and visionary, Christie Franklin, RN, BA, as Chairman of the Board of Managers of Bristol Hospice, L.L.C. In conjunction with this appointment, proven hospice and palliative care physician executive, Stephen A. Leedy, MD, MA, FAAHPM, HMDC, has been named as President and Chief Executive Officer. The leadership change is effective immediately.

Ms. Franklin, a visionary leader, was integral in the establishment of Bristol Hospice, L.L.C., as its founder, growing the organization from startup to serving more than 900 patients daily through its community-based hospice agencies operating in seven states throughout the United States. As Chairman, she will continue as an employee of Bristol Hospice, L.L.C., and provide overall strategic vision to the Board of Managers for the advancement of Bristol Hospice, L.L.C.’s mission. Ms. Franklin will continue to represent the organization through active participation on accreditation, quality and industry-related committees, and national boards.

Ms. Franklin has a Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Management, and has been a registered nurse for more than thirty years. Ms. Franklin was appointed to the National Quality Forum for Home Health Quality Measures 2004 and the National Quality Forum for Hospice and Palliative Care Framework Review Committee 2005. She was appointed in 2006 to the Brown University Perception of Care Panel. She is a current and past member of the NHPCO Quality and Standards Committee, having served from 2008 to the present, and will serve a two-year term as Chair of that committee through 2015. In March of 2015, Ms. Franklin was appointed to a three-year term on the CHAP Board of Review. Ms. Franklin was Treasurer of the 2013 NHPCO Hospice Action Network Board and remains a current member of the NHPCO Hospice Action Network Board. She is a past member of the NHPCO Governance Committee. Also, Ms. Franklin has served over the years in numerous national committee and boards supporting the hospice and homecare industry. She has also conducted numerous national hospice and homecare presentations and authored several publications. She was a member of the HCAP Advisory Board—2009 through 2014. Ms. Franklin served on the National Association for Home Care and Hospice Strategic Planning Congress Nominating Committee and the Proprietary Advisory Board, and is also a past member of the Hospice Association of America.

“Through this planned leadership succession, I am pleased to turn over the day-to-day operations and leadership to Dr. Leedy,” Ms. Franklin said. “In addition to being a proven physician leader, Dr. Leedy is an approachable, sought-after speaker and hospice and palliative care advocate. I feel assured the rich Bristol culture that has been established will continue through his leadership and the Bristol leadership team, as they are the keepers of the culture.”

Dr. Leedy earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed his family medicine residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. He was recently awarded a Master’s Degree in Palliative Care Leadership from Lancaster University in Lancaster, England. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and is the Immediate Past Chair of their national Public Policy Committee. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association (FHPCA). Dr. Leedy is board certified in Family Medicine with subspecialty board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is a certified Hospice Medical Director. He has had original research articles published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine. Dr. Leedy’s recent appointments include Vice President of Post-Acute Care of BayCare Health System, a large integrated health system in west central Florida. He has also served as National Vice President of Operations for Seasons Hospice and Executive Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Tidewell Hospice.

Bristol Hospice, L.L.C. and Stillwater Medical Center form Joint Venture for Hospice – Judith Karman Bristol Hospice, L.L.C.

Stillwater Medical Center announced today it has formed a Joint Venture with Bristol Hospice, L.L.C., a nationally recognized hospice provider, to form Judith Karman Bristol Hospice, L.L.C. Judith Karman Bristol Hospice, L.L.C. will operate a hospice program in the same location in Stillwater. Judith Karman Bristol Hospice will serve the patients and families previously served by Judith Karman Hospice and will offer comprehensive hospice care to all Stillwater area residents and their families.

Bristol Hospice LLC Announces Key Leadership Appointment

Teresa Craig to Serve as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, July 17, 2014 — Bristol Hospice, L.L.C., a premier provider of family-centered hospice care and homecare services, as well as a comprehensive suite of clinical specialties, supportive care and management services, is pleased to announce the appointment of Teresa R. Craig to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. Ms. Craig will work in collaboration with Bristol Hospice’s leadership team and report to Christie Franklin, President/ CEO. Due to growth, Bristol Hospice has added this new role in which Ms. Craig will have the direct responsibility for Bristol Hospice, L.L.C.’s Finance, Human Resources, and Information Technology departments and will also be involved with mergers, acquisitions and start-up activities.

Ms. Craig has extensive leadership experience in health care and human-service organizations. Teresa is a highly-respected, visionary leader in the hospice and homecare industry, and has served on numerous committees and boards for state and national organizations, including the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, National Hospice Organization Insurance Agency, Electronic Health Record Association, National Association of Hospice and Home Care, Association of Kansas Hospices and Hospice Association of America.

Bristol Hospice – Georgia, LLC Educates The Atlanta Area At POLST Conference

The Bristol Hospice–Georgia program was part of a sweeping change in improving healthcare for millions of Georgians with its recent sponsorship and exhibit booth at the Georgia Physician Orders For Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) Conference on May 8, 2014.  As part of this collaboration, the Georgia program and its team members educated patients, families and health care professionals to the POLST medical order, which enables seriously ill patients designate their desired treatment  and ensures medical professionals honor their preferences.

Bristol Hospice – Sacramento, LLC Celebrates Five Years Of Serving Patients And Families

Another milestone was met at the Bristol Hospice – Sacramento, LLC agency on the fifth anniversary of servicing hospice patients in the Sacramento community.  The program is one of the first programs in the Bristol Continuum of Care and is its largest program.  The agency celebrated with an open house on April 1, 2014 with over 100 guests attending. The Sacramento program is looking forward to another five years and beyond of servicing hospice patients and their families.

CEO Christie Franklin Celebrates At Bristol Hospice – Pathways, LLC Open House

It was a celebratory time at the Bristol Hospice – Pathways, LLC agency when it held an open house on March 11, 2014, at its new Waxahachie office.  Many local dignitaries attended the open house and ribbon cutting ceremonies for the new office and office building.  During the ceremonies, Jim and Melinda Colwell were recognized for their dedication to Bristol Hospice –Pathways, LLC. The Colwells are former owners of the hospice agency and owners of the new office space.  Christie Franklin, President/CEO of Bristol Hospice, LLC., presented them with a Texas flag that had flown over the Texas State Capitol.  It was a great event, and Bristol Hospice-Pathways, LLC is honored to be servicing hospice patients and their families in the Waxahachie community and surrounding counties.

Heroic Act By Bristol Hospice – California, LLC Nurse Inspires Company Award

The first recipient of the Bristol Carroll Award is hospice nurse, Virginia Carroll, for the bravery and heroism she displayed on January 30, 2014.  While traveling to a hospice patient’s home, Virginia saved a child from a burning vehicle from the devastating automobile accident.  In deep appreciation of Virginia’s unselfish actions, Bristol Hospice has named an award in her honor.  The Bristol Carroll Award will be given to employees who perform heroic acts of compassionate service and valor.  Virginia is an employee at Bristol Hospice – California, LLC.  We are so fortunate to have an “angel” on our team.
